Making the Switch from Sunday School Christianity to an Emboldened, Audacious, Fearless Lifestyle (Part 2)

Part 2

Several weeks ago I published a post outlining six “mighty makers” for audacious living as taught by one of my favorite speakers, Beth Moore. Here are the last four of these mighty makers. I pray that they inspire you to abandon Sunday school Christianity and join me in beginning the journey of audacious living that God has called us to!

The audacity to pray for astonishing works of the Holy Spirit.

As Beth Moore says, “You are never going to live bolder than you pray.” When we believe that God CAN and WILL perform “astonishing works,” we portray a faith that can move mountains (1 Corinthians 13:2)!  I’ll be honest: this is something that I really struggle with. I say that I believe God will perform great things, but do I pray for great things? Not as much as I should. Prayer is such an essential part of our Christian walk. Sometimes I must say to myself, “Miriam, how dare you not pray? I mean really, Christ DIED for you; the least that you can do is TALK to Him!” Let us each work on defeating the real enemy, Satan, with our main weapon: prayer!

P.S. If you haven’t watched the movie War Room yet, WATCH IT. It is such an inspiration in the area of prayer!

The audacity to forgive and live forgiven.

Unforgiveness is like a deadly poison. Slowly but surely, it will destroy you. God forgives us for our own mile-long list of offenses; therefore, we must forgive others, no matter what the circumstances! This is tough, I know. But I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me (Philippians 4:13)! You wouldn’t believe the weight that forgiveness takes off your shoulders and the growth it spurs in your relationship with God. You don’t have room in your heart for Jesus and for unforgiveness: one has to go. And I would suggest that it would be best to let Jesus stay. 🙂

The audacity to hold tight with all your might to Romans 8:18.

For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us. ~Romans 8:18

God’s Word speaks for itself. No explanation needed! When hard days come, this verse will be our hope!

The audacity to walk in humility.

Humility. Most of us cringe at the word. Americans as a whole are taught to be selfish and prideful. No more! “In God’s economy, the way up is down.” -Beth Moore. A hard feat, but a feasible one! I long to obtain the type of humility that our Savior possessed. HE IS GOD, yet he didn’t consider equality with God something to be grasped, but emptied Himself, taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. And being found in human form, He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross (Philippians 2:6b-8).

So, will you join me? Will you take these steps to becoming the audacious Christians that we are called to be? Together, let’s be the beginning of a generation that lives audaciously  and is not ashamed of living for Christ!
